About the Project
Finding a quiet place to work in the city is a matter of discovery. This cafe has great coffee, but the music gets louder every hour. That park gets crowded at lunchtime. Quiet surfaces this knowledge on a map, powered by community intelligence.
With microphone permission granted, the app measures the current dB level of your location. You pick one of three categories — 'Very Quiet,' 'Acceptable,' 'Noisy' — and add it to the map. The whole process takes 10 seconds. The MapKit noise map grows richer over time through user contributions.
Filter by time of day (morning/noon/evening), venue type (cafe, park, library, coworking space), and noise level. A 'quietest 3 spots near me' suggestion is generated from your live location. It also works with AirPods Transparency mode for personal ambient-sound mapping.
